This course is for system programmers who are involved in installing z/OS. |
| PREREQUISITES: |
An understanding of the z/OS operating system is required. This may be gained from our z/OS for Beginners course. |
| DURATION: |
2 days. Hands on, when available. |
| OBJECTIVES: |
z/OS is the follow-on system from OS/390. This course identifies the actions needed to migrate from OS/390 Release 2.10 to z/OS at the latest release. The necessary actions will be covered and then the further ways of exploiting the new functions introduced in z/OS such as the Managed System Infrastructure (msys), Intelligent Resource Director and 64-bit addressing. The way of collecting statistics on program usage and reporting this to IBM to take advantage of the Variable Workload Charges is also covered. This will allow the installation to move smoothly to z/OS and to receive the benefits from the new features introduced in z/OS. This course covers the functions in z/OS 1.4.1. Reference is also made to new features in Releases 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 but for a full coverage of these releases attendance on course 'z/OS New Features' is recommended. |
