Programmers responsible for writing and/or maintaining RPG IV code. |
| PREREQUISITES: |
Before taking this course, a student should:
· Have a basic knowledge of SEU.
· Know about the concepts of externally described files (i.e. DDS).
· Be familiar with the facilities of iSeries/i5 (menus, CL commands, jobs, etc).
· Have a basic knowledge of programming (sequence, loops, subroutines etc.).

| OBJECTIVES: |
On completion of the course, participants should be able to code and debug simple RPGIV programs, both interactive and batch. Specifically the student will understand:
· How data is stored and manipulated by RPG
· RPGIV...coding structure, indicators, operation codes, etc.
· Record retrieval operations
· Workstation and printer file handling
· Tables and arrays
· Program calling and parameter passing
· Structured programming techniques
· Data structures and data areas.
· Multiple occurrence data structures
· Subfiles
· Error Handling
· Debug
